MMA Junkie first reported the bout, who’s spot on the card isn’t known at this time.
UFC 249 is set to get another great lightweight matchup added to the card as Alexander “The Great” Hernandez and Islam Makhachev have verbally agreed to fight.
The bout has not been officially confirmed by the organisation yet, however, sources have told MMA Junkie that the two fighters have verbally agreed to the bout, it just needs to be finalised.
The supremely confident Alexander Hernandez will be looking for his second win in a row after a unanimous decision over Francisco Trinaldo in July put him back to winning ways. Prior to the win over Trinaldo, Hernandez had an eight-fight winning streak snapped by Donald Cerrone. Hernandez is now looking to rebuild and takes another step up in competition to take on number 14 ranked Islam Makhachev.
Makhachev’s last outing was headlined by Khabib Nurmagomedov and now it looks like the Russian lightweight is set to join Khabib’s PPV show yet again. The UFC 249 main event sees Khabib Nurmagomedov defend his lightweight crown against Tony Ferguson in a highly anticipated match-up.
